Something about reading the manual comes to mind.Did you set the display to CRT or to simultaneous (LCD and CRT)? Wereyou going out the vga post (15 pin d connector)?
External Monitor Pregnancy
- The VGA port. In order to send the signal to this external monitor (since you can't see the laptop monitor) you use the function keys Fn+F8 (I think this is the combination for your laptop-if not, see your users' manual) to toggle between video modes. Hold down the Fn key and tap the F8 key while holding down the Fn key.
- External monitor won't connect - Dell Laptop. And when the screen is 'extended' windows will disappear into the screen, but the screen will still not display. But the same options appear and the same thing happens with the extended display even with the VGA cord is NOT plugged into the computer.
Were you trying to goout the SVHS port? What resolution were you at (the svhs doesn't workat resolutions over 800x600).Kind of hard to answer your questions without details, and without youreading the manual.BTW, I've used mine hooked up through both the vga and svhs toexternal montitors and various types of display/projector units, aswell as through the svhs to a regular tv. Also connect an external monitor and press Fn + F8 to activate the VGA port If you get video on an external monitor, I'd suspect the LCD as the failure point.
